Since I have been in lockdown, I am using my MacBook more than my large iPad. Realized, the iPad really still has a way to go. What are your thoughts ?

I’m not sure I’d agree that “the iPad still has a way to go”. It depends on where you think the destination is. It’s not really intended to be a laptop replacement because (as you’ve found) the laptop doesn’t need to be replaced: it’s still perfectly capable of doing all the things you’re used to doing on a laptop. The problem as I see it is that there’s such an overlap of functions that, if you’re doing something on the laptop, it’s very easy just to stay put and do other things that could be done equally well (or better) on the iPad. (For example, I’ve found myself watching movies or reading books on the computer, when it would be a more satisfactory experience on the iPad.) It may not always be clear what job an iPad is the right tool for, but I think it would be a mistake to try to solve that problem by giving it more of the functions of a laptop.

@artkavanagh hey there. I agree with you to an extent. I think I used to see it as a computer replacement for 90% of things. This is for the iPad pro by the way. As you say, the MacBook can do more than one thing a lot easier. I love it for it's portability, consumption of media and pencil input for digital notes and most of all, app echo system. It has a better front facing camera than all Macs. The donwside is it is within the MacBook pricing and yet cannot let you use Google Meet, Zoom or WebEx conferencing without pausing if you leave the screen. I have been enjoying the Mac more because I can also use an iPad. I do not think I could pick one over the other. So in essence, I have come to your way of thinking. One device supports the other and not replace. ☺️
