Hey world. Does anyone still use the Simplenote text editor ?

I use it on & off. Evernote is my default note-taking app at the moment.

@gregmoore Hey Greg, curious why you have not moved away? I used to live it and still do. Trying to find excuses to use it and then get annoyed lol. I want it to be more like iA writer. @maique @ridwan @canion

The biggest reason is that I don’t mess around with apps that I rely on. At the risk of being negative, many people seem to spend more time chasing the dragon of finding the “perfect” writing app than they do actually writing. That’s fine when something breaks or goes out of business but I want my notes boring, safe, and all in the same format. Simplenote is free, continues to work as well as the day I started with it, and is backed by a company that is unlikely to be bought and sold for parts.

@gregmoore you have hit the nail on the head. Simplenote is brilliant, but the stopped developing it and just restarted. It is what it says on the tin. A text editor.

I think they just updated it recently with internal links to link to a note from within another note.

@gregmoore I used Simplenote for over a year when I needed to swap text between an iPad and a Windows notebook. I thought it was very good but I got a bit fed up of the Electron look and feel. Since I’ve been back on the Mac, I’ve been using Tot on both it and the iPad and I’m happy with that.

@gregmoore @munish I completely agree. Simplenote does one thing and does it really well. I forgot they have markdown capability as well.
