What is the best job interview advice you would give to a candidate or recruiter ?

I would say think about something that makes you unique and show the interviewer how different you are. Eg: Potential pain point in the industry, how did you come across, what did you do, what was the outcome & what did you learn. If you can do a slideshow or a one page summary and hand it over to the interviewer, that make you stand out.

As someone who has performed many interviews, the people who stand out to me are the people who don’t seem like they’ve over rehearsed. Show some personality. Get creative with the popular “weakness” questions. Tell about a mistake you made and how you learned from it instead of acting like you’ve never made mistakes. And have a general knowledge about the company!

@ridwan @Mtt you both make very good points. I find too many people sound like they are talking through a script and less conversational. It also seems to be the norm for candidates to pull out notes during an interview too.

Something that has seemed to help me most in interviews is to open both of my hands and leave them in the same spot on my lap or the table in front of me. It sounds silly but something about it sends a physical messsage to my brain to relax.
